FLARP

At work yesterday, my boss (Gary, also my host 'dad') gave me a small container of Flarp. Flarp, for all of you who don't remember, is that really soft, silly putty stuff that makes fart sounds as you move it around and poke it in its container. It is the best invention for immature minds I have ever seen...

I used this Flarp to entertain the other interns during and after lunch and pretty much all day. We laughed and acted like 12 year old boys at lunch, seeing who could make the best fart sounds. I think I laughed too hard...it was a little embarrassing actually. I tend to have a pretty immature sense of humor and a lack of control of my laughter...not a good combination when you add Flarp to the mix.

Flarp is one of the most interesting substances to me. It's neither liquid nor solid...it just kind of molds around your fingers. It breaks apart with hard edges like a solid, but just turns to soup in your fingers. I could play with Flarp forever!

And this, ladies and gentlemen, is why I created a blog, so I could enlighten you all with my thoughts on Flarp. Hope you all enjoy it!

Colorado Springs

I am interning at Focus on the Family this summer in Colorado Springs. It has been one of the most exciting and rewarding experiences of my life. I have met so many wonderful people, both in my department and interns I am working with.

All of us interns have formed a very close friendship, and usually hang out several times a week. I am so impressed with the group of kids I am interning with; it is so encouraging to be around Christian Millennials who are passionate about both politics and helping people. I know this is the place God wants me to be this summer, in just the few weeks I've been here I have learned more than I thought I ever would. I am sad that my internship is soon coming to an end...I hope to always keep in contact with all of the people I have met here!

Interning with the Ministry Communications has really opened my eyes to my love of writing (thus this blog) as well as fighting for things I think are right. At Focus we not only talk about news, but we talk about how it relates to Christians, whether it's positive or not. I love that! I love being able to think about things that are going on in the crazy world around us, and making them not only interesting but relative to people. I also love reaching out to people and being a part of helping and encouraging families all over the world.

Overall, my internship has helped me grow as a person and showed me my passion of writing can be used to bring honor to God. I am looking forward to where God leads me in the coming months and years.
